Organize Music Library IV
Good Folder Structure for Music Albums
A good Folder Structure for Albums is like the Picture below.
Tag (Describe) with your Tagger at Least the following Tags.
- Genre,
- Album artist
- Album
- Year (Recorded)
- Track number
- Track name.
Additional you should have a Folder Picture (Named as folder.jpg). This gives you a nice View with Fileexplorer and Players,
Usefull for songs are olso Textfiles with Lyrics and Tags with Lyric Context.
If you buy from ITunes Music Album's you get sometimes a Booklet as PDF File.
If you have additional Pictures for Covers , put them in a Subfolder. Here Booklet folder.
For more then one Disk of a Album fill out also the Disknumber. The most Players understand this.
Otherwise you should give the Tracknumber a Pre Tracknumber. At Example
Disknr. 1 :
1-1,1-2,
Disknr 2 :
2-1,2-2 etc
If you have more then 9 Tracks in an Album try to give the Tracks a leading 0.
Tracknr.: 01,02,03 etc.

Organize Music Libraries III
continue adding Options
Not only for Jazz-Fans its important, who Play wich Instrument ?
A recommded Tag is called Involved people list.
A typical Tag has to looks like this :
Alto Saxophone:Lee Konitz;Baritone Saxophone:Gerry Mulligan;Bass:Joe Shulman;Tuba:Bill Barber;
Syntax is Intrument followed with : and then the Artistname
next Instrument:Artistname should be separated with ; (Semicolon)
To do this call the Modify Options Dialog
and add the INVOLVEDPEOPLE and give them a Name like Instrument:Artist.
Organize Music Libraries II
Tools for Tagging and add Options
I personal use either my Own Tagger or MP3Tag. There are allready many Taggers available. But Mp3Tag is allways uptodate with IDTag Standards.
The most important Tags to organize a Library are :
Genre, Albumartist, Year (Date of the Record ) , Tracknumber , Titel.
Genre, Albumartist, Year (Date of the Record ) , Tracknumber , Titel.
But this is not enough for Jazz Fans.
So you have to modify your Tagger
This standard Tags are easy modifiable with the MP3Tag Editor
For additional Tags you have to Add some Options to your Tagger
So we Add a Style (Subtitle) to the MP3 Tagger with the Option Dialog
Organize Music Libraries I
Since Windows 7 the System has Libraries for Pictures,Music etc. You can add many Locations to this Libraries. External Hard Disks also. If you select with the Explorer the Genre Viiew you will see the all your Genre.
At Example here you have Books, Classical etc.
If you click one of the Genre you will see Albums, If the Album has a Folder Picture it would look like this.
You should not use to many Genre Types. A good suggestion about Genre, you can see at http://www.allmusic.com/genres To organize your Files more deeper use also Styles.
With Styles you can Group (at Example) your Jazz Music moore specified.
With Styles you can Group (at Example) your Jazz Music moore specified.
At Example : for Genre Jazz : use Styles : Oldtime, Bop , Cool etc.
Music/Jazz/Cool/Artist/Album
I like also to put the Year in Front of the AlbumMusic/Jazz/Cool/Miles Davis/(1950) Birth of the cool
The using of Styles makes sense if you have many CD's allready on your Disk or to specify Areas for the Artist.
For a Genre like Folk use the Countries where the Folkmusic commes from.
Music/Folk/Austria/Artist/Album
For Classical Music it may sense to organize Music with the Composer instead of the AlbumArtist.
Music/Classical/Mozart/Kleine Nachtmusik
Music/Classical/Mozart/Kleine Nachtmusik
